SP–19 Traffic Control Devices 19.1 General

a) The Contractor shall provide for the passage of traffic along the Roads and Streets when Work is being done at all times in and around all the construction sites all in accordance of General Specifications and the Special Provisions. During critical activities the Contractor may, with the approval of the Engineer, provide for one way movement for selected and short sections of the street or road.

b) For the control of traffic during construction, the Contractor shall furnish, install and maintain free of cost, such signs, delineators, barricades, flashers and flagmen as are necessary for proper execution. Prior to initiation of one way traffic controls, the Contractor shall prepare and submit to the Engineer for approval a diagram or sketch outlining in detail the area or areas to be affected and the location, type and number of working lights, signs, delineators, barricades, flashers and flagmen he proposes to use.

c) Since the traffic flow patterns may vary from hour to hour or location to location, the following guidelines provided in Sub-Clause 17.2 to 17.6 will be established.
