The flocs formed in the Flocculation tank shall be removed in the Clarifier through gravity settling. The detention time and hydraulic loading rate are so adjusted to create tranquil conditions in the Clarifier which results in the settling of flocs at the bottom of the Clarifier, whereas the clarified water overflows a weir provided at the periphery of the Clarifier to be fed in to the Filter beds for further treatment.
The rotating scrapper bridge is fitted in the Clarifier which scraps the settled flocs in to the sludge pits. The sludge pits are connected to the outer manhole through pipes fitted with valve, timer and electrical actuator. The timer controlled intermittent opening of the sludge valves discharges the sludge in to the manhole for final disposal.
Three Clarifier Cum Flocculation Tanks have been proposed for the treatment plant.
